a labour convoy to ukraine

The Workers' Aid Convoy of the ILNSS (International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggles) to Ukraine aims to strengthen class resistance in the country against the Russian invasion.

As well as to take our internationalist support forward, in a closer and more practical way, with representations of the entities that integrate the ILNSS.

The decision to send an international delegation to the country was based on many conversations with labor unions and activists from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, and is only possible because several organizations that are part of the ILNSS have been actively involved in the defense of Ukraine against the Russian invasion since the beginning of the attacks on 24 February.

Keep up with our daily report, in which we share our work in support of Ukrainian workers inside Ukraine.

May Day

International Conference “Dimensions of war” took place on the 1st of May in Hhat Khotkevych Lviv municipal palace of culture (Kushevycha) as part of the international trade-unionist humanitarian convoy “Workers aid to Ukraine”.

Representatives of OZZ Inicjatywa Pracowniczа (trade union, Poland), CSP - Conlutas (trade union, Brazil), Union Syndicale Solidaires (trade union, France), Adl Cobas (trade union, Italy), Gegužės 1-osios profesinė sąjunga - G1PS (trade union, Lithuania), NGO “Social Movement”, NGO “Feminist Workshop” (Lviv), NGO “Work Safe”, Free trade union of railway workers of Ukraine (Kryvyi Rikh) and other social organisation of Ukraine, as well as individual activists and volunteers, took part in the conference.

The ILNSS celebrated May Day with the internationalism that is the symbol of its foundation. The international delegation that constitutes the Workers Aid Convoy in Support with Workers' Resistance in Ukraine held an act/meeting in Lviv, in a workers' cultural centre, with more than 50 people, of these, 19 foreigners, who collaborated with the initiative of international solidarity.

The protest of this International Day of Working Class Struggle took place with the doors closed, due to the martial law in force in the country.

Comrades from Austria, Brazil, France, Italy, Lithuania and Poland made up the event. Several issues were discussed, such as labour reform, the impact of war on people and mental problems, stress and depression, the situation of women, as well as workers' reports. At one point in the program, mine workers from the city of Kryvyi Rih participated via videoconference of the activities, and were able to dialogue and thank for the international class solidarity.

The ILNSS celebrates the victorious convoy in support of the Ukrainian workers' resistance. Long live the internationalist struggle!

why to help?

In conversations with militant unionists from the Ukraine and nearby countries, much was said about the logistical difficulties in this hard period of confrontation with the Russian army and we were attentive to hear what the most urgent needs are of those who have stayed in the country by choice or by the imposition of the war.

According to reports from those who remain in Ukraine, emergency items are for adults, but much is needed by people of other age groups, such as baby food and toys.

Many women remain in the country because they have decided not to abandon their companions or take care of elderly people or children who have stayed behind. They are mothers, sisters or daughters, who survive with difficulty in conditions of scarcity in the distribution of food, medicines, water, energy and gas.

And it is in this alarming context that we need to go beyond and affirm solidarity with the working class, people like us, who with few resources seek to maintain firm resistance against the invaders.

How to support financially

ILNSS and comrades from de network will finance the logistics of donations, which will be bought according to the orientation of the Ukrainian working class's needs.
